So yes I agree it is a violation as the Windows on ARM product is only licensed to OEMs and the Preview license indicates that the underlying Microsoft Software Licensing terms apply. People are apparently running the Windows ARM preview on Raspberry Pis and getting good results also - which is something else Microsoft's hardware partners I think do not really want to see working. Parallels claimed at one point that they over 100,000 testers in one of the emails they sent me. ![]() ![]() ![]() That said it is clear the preview does work pretty well for most people. I also think Microsoft cannot allow this to work from a business perspective as none of Microsoft's hardware partners or Microsoft themselves can match the M1 performance. I have seen them make and withdraw some claims around working with Microsoft on this. That said the now venture capital owned Parallels is taking an interesting risk. If terminated the agreement requires you to stop using the software and delete it so not a good long term plan for any kind of essential work. ![]() If you read over the agreement, you are accepting the risk that Microsoft can terminate the preview and/or terminate you from the preview program at any time as well. My view is that paragraph 9 would be the violation point as Microsoft has stated that Windows on ARM can only be licensed by OEMs.
